Setting up your Home Stay

Antigua offers students the great opportunity of living with a Guatemalan family during their stay. Students will have the opportunity to eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner with their home stay families along with other Spanish language students. Students are responsible for choosing their preferred type of housing, which will be organized through Tecun Uman. They offer the following:

Single Rooms with a Shared Bathroom:

$ 80: basic room, good and healthy food, friendly environment.

$ 85-90: Nicer room, good and healthy food, friendly environment.

Single Rooms with a Private Bathroom:

$ 115-135: Basic room, good and healthy food, friendly environment.

$ 150-200: Excellent large room, good and healthy food, friendly semi-luxurious environment, cable TV, access to Internet

Please note that many of the home stays do not have Internet access, however, there are homes with available wi-fi for an additional fee. Wi-fi is widely available in cafes in Antigua, or you have the option of purchasing a local SIM/wireless modem for around $75.

Once you have chosen the type of home stay you would prefer, email your request to Tecun Uman at info@tecunumanschool.edu.gt (and copy us at info@napaotguatemala.org).  Sending your request as early as possible helps ensure you get your first choice.  Your request must be submitted by May 15.

Please remember that housing costs are not included in the field school tuition. Students are advised to pay for home stays week by week directly to host families, rather than paying for the total anticipated amount all up front.
